  • December 4, 2014 - If you're going to be near your computer or other internet-connected device tonight at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time, or more appropriately P.T.) you can catch Steve Bonino appearing on The Doug and Judy Show broadcasting live from Long Beach! Steve will be performing new music with Ted Zahn from their upcoming Zabocus release. Can't wait!

  • October 16, 2014 - We'd like to wish John Lansing a very happy birthday today!  To help celebrate the occasion, pre-order John's latest novel, Blond Cargo, which is due to be released next week (October 20th!)  It's the highly anticipated sequel to his first book The Devil's Necktie, which is a "can't-put-it-down" thriller.  More links to other retailers selling the e-book can be found on John's official website!

  • September 11, 2014 - Today marks the 38th anniversary of The Kids from C.A.P.E.R.'s debut on NBC.  Show your love and appreciation for the show by supporting the guys who made it happen!  Check out (and like) Steve Bonino's new Facebook page for his incredible cover band The Trip.  You can also pre-order John Lansing's new novel Blond Cargo for the Kindle and Nook, coming out October 20th!  And Rob Hegel will have two new songs on the upcoming Legends Shoulder to Shoulder CD being released by The Pete Quaife Foundation, and you can check out the new music video this cover version of The Kink's Tired of Waiting here!

  • February 9, 2014 - Valerie Landsburg (who played Dunga Gin in the C.A.P.E.R. episode of the same name) has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a movie she will direct entitled Offer & Compromise.  Spread the word and help out if you can!

  • December 31, 2013 - We're closing 2013 by adding a really nice publicity photo of John Lansing which was released during his Broadway run in the musical Grease.  Happy New Year, C.A.P.E.R. fans!  And thank you all for your continued support of this website!

  • October 16, 2013 - Wishing John Lansing a very happy birthday today!  We're looking forward to reading more Jack Bertolino novels, hopefully soon!

  • September 18, 2013 - Many thanks to all of the C.A.P.E.R. fans who helped contribute to Steve Bonino's Indiegogo campaign for his new project Children of the Moon!  The total ended up at $1,405, which is terrific!  The C.A.P.E.R. Project will be giving the band a check for that same amount, and we will definitely keep everyone up-to-date with news about the album!  Thanks again!

  • September 11, 2013 - Today marks the 37th anniversary of the day when The Kids from C.A.P.E.R. first debuted on NBC.  In honor of this anniversary, The C.A.P.E.R. Project is pleased to announce that we're going to match the amount raised for Steve Bonino's Indiegogo campaign for his new project Children of the Moon, dollar for dollar, up to $2,500!  (That means that if the campaign reaches $2,500 or more, we'll add another $2,500 to the amount, or we'll double any amount under $2,500!)  C.A.P.E.R. fans have already been super generous with their donations and the matching funds will include all the money which has been raised to date.  But if you haven't made a donation yet or wish to donate a little more, know your money will go twice as far!  We feel that this is especially appropriate today, considering it's also the anniversary of 9/11 and there is such a strong message of peace and love behind the music of Children of the Moon.  Steve's genuine and heartfelt songwriting and lyrics are sorely needed in this world.  We believe 100% in this project and want to do everything we can to help make this album a reality, so please help any way you can to enable us to reach that monetary goal!  Thanks, everyone!

  • August 25, 2013 - We have added some new material to the site!  First we have an interesting article from an issue of the Los Angeles Times TV Times magazine which was published one week before the debut of the show and includes a rare color photo of the Kids in their first costumes on the set of The Goodfather.  We have also added a nice paparazzi photo of John Lansing taken by Ed Geller at an unknown event.  And finally you have just under a week now to enter the Rob Hegel / Road Signs Contest and win yourself that unique autographed C.A.P.E.R. album, so fill out your entry and send it in today!

  • August 16, 2013 - Steve Bonino's new band, Children of the Moon, is running an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for the production of their first album!  This music, which was written by Steve, is very unique and special, so this is a project we should all get behind!  Check out the video below and then visit their Indiegogo campaign website to donate!  Every donation, no matter how small, will help to make this project happen!


  • August 11, 2013 - A heads up that Steve Bonino will be a featured artist on Rocker's Dive Radio online tomorrow night (August 12th) from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. PT) and will also be in the chat room to converse with everyone!  Be sure to tune in if you can!

  • June 1, 2013 - You can now help Oklahoma rebuild after the devastating tornados and at the same time enjoy some great music!  Steve Bonino has generously donated his hauntingly beautiful song The Hurt'll Go Away to the Tornado 13 Musicians Benefit EP for Moore, Oklahoma, which you can purchase for just $5.00 (although you can pay any amount you wish!)  Our hearts and prayers go out to all of those effected by the storms!

  • May 23, 2013 - A last minute heads-up that Steve Bonino will be interviewed live on KCTYFM.org tonight at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time to promote his album Peace Rocks.  He'll also perform a couple of songs, and you can watch the live studio cam to see all the in-studio happenings!  Don't miss it!

  • May 21, 2013 - Many thanks to C.A.P.E.R. fan Amy for letting us know that the mysterious movie from Biff's early career called The Death of Sammy is, in fact, the 1975 made-for-TV film The Dream Makers, which marked the acting debut of Kenny Rogers.  We have amended Biff's biography to include this new information!


  • April 26, 2013 - Steve Bonino will be in the studio at Laguna Beach radio station KX 93.5 at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29th to play some solo acoustic tunes and promote his album Peace Rocks.  Be sure to tune in online to catch the show!

  • January 26, 2013 - Have now added the Afternoon TV article from July 1978 about Biff's work on As the World Turns to our Articles section, as well as some new information about Biff's life to his Biography page (the new information is in red print.)  Many thanks to Biff's childhood friend, Frank McNeely, for sharing his memories of Biff with us!  We have also added a page from a Bass Memorial Academy publication featuring Biff to his photo section (and thanks to Kevin for finding this for us!)

  • January 1, 2013 - Happy New Year, fellow C.A.P.E.R. fans!  2013 promises to be a very exciting year, thanks in no small part to John Lansing, whose book The Devil's Necktie has just been released!  We're very excited about John's first fiction thriller novel and hope to see it become a series of books!  If you haven't ordered your copy yet, there's still time to get it at its special introductory price of 99 cents (but that price won't last forever, so order today!)  Also Steve's January FREE song download, The Only Hope is Love, is also now available, and while you're visiting his website to grab the song why not order his new CD, Peace Rocks as well?  We'll have more information on both of these exciting C.A.P.E.R. projects, as well as Rob Hegel's new album offering, Road Signs, coming later this month!

  • December 1, 2012 - It appears that C.A.P.E.R. fans will be getting lots of great Christmas presents soon, thanks to the talented alumni who are bringing us lots of new material this month!  First there is the newly-released, 13-song CD from Rob Hegel entitled Road Signs, which you can purchase now from iTunes, CDBaby and Amazon.com, among other online music retailers.  It's a fabulous album, so order your copy today!  And while you're in a shopping mood, you can pre-order John Lansing's forthcoming new book, The Devil's Necktie, from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.  This is John's first fiction novel and from all indications it's going to be a thrilling, spine-tingling read!   • September 20, 2012 - We've now posted a very unique piece of artwork connected with the touring company of Grease back in 1974.  Caricaturist Sam Norkin captured the theatrical cast from that run in a whimsical way and the drawing was used to help publicize the show.  Included in the artwork are likenesses of both John Lansing and Cosie Costa, so we have added it to both of their Stage Photo pages.

  • September 12, 2012 - We've added some information about C.A.P.E.R's associate producer, Kay Hoffman, to the Show History page.  Kay communicated with us briefly to share this about the series: "It was great fun to do.  The boys were so young, fresh and eager.  They made it special.  The bus broke down constantly.  We were all learning.  They would enjoy that there is a site."  Thanks very much to Kay for sharing this lovely sentiment with us!

  • September 11, 2012 - Today marks the 36th anniversary since The Kids from C.A.P.E.R. made its debut on NBC Saturday morning!  To help celebrate, we've added a brand new video clip . . . it's from a play John appeared in called Cheaters which was recorded and aired on television in 1980.  We also hope to add a few new updates in the coming days or weeks, so stay tuned!

  • December 16, 2011 - We have a perfect Christmas treat for you, C.A.P.E.R. fans, and it's all thanks to the thoughtful and wonderful Dianne Kay, who surprised us by sending us a copy of the original script for The Goodfather episode in which she appeared!  We were especially surprised to find so many of our questions answered by character development in this early draft!  Why does P.T. wear a safari suit?  Why is Doomsday holding a turtle in the beginning of the missing footage from Mummy's the Word?  And what exactly is the little statue and book which Bugs wears on his belt?  We now have the answers to these and other questions, and it's all thanks to Dianne Kay!  Thank you so much, Dianne!

  • December 14, 2011 - We were very pleased to find that Father Bob Lussier's interview on the local cable television series Spirituality has been posted on YouTube, and we have embedded it on Robert Lussier's page.  Entitled "Transformation," the episode includes an interesting Entertainment Tonight segment in which Father Lussier explains his choice to leave the entertainment industry to become a Benedictine Monk.  We have also added a link on the bottom of his page to a very detailed article about Robert Lussier's life, both past and present.

  • December 9, 2011 - A very happy birthday on what would have been Biff Warren's 56th birthday (or perhaps his 57th, as we believe now he was actually born in 1954!)  We hope everyone will take a moment and think of Biff today.  Thanks!

  • December 8, 2011 - We are very pleased to have learned that Don Kirshner was this year's recipient of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Ahmet Ertegun award for a non-performer for his obvious contributions to the world of rock music!  This is a well-deserved honor for "The Man With the Golden Ear" and we only wish it had come before his death earlier this year.

  • September 10, 2011 - This weekend marks the 35th Anniversary of C.A.P.E.R. with the airing of The Great NBC Smilin' Saturday Mornin' Parade on September 10th, 1976 and the premiere of The Kids from C.A.P.E.R. on September 11, 1976.  To celebrate this monumental anniversary, we have now updated the Saturday Mornin' Preview page with all kinds of interesting information, including scripts, production notes and cast listings.  It's a fascinating look at the production of this one-time special which first introduced NBC's audiences to our favorite Saturday morning show!

  • April 24, 2011 - Added three new articles to our website which you can now peruse!  First, The Kids from C.A.P.E.R. Love Horoscope (see which Kid you'd be most compatible with!)  And then a quick report about John while he was working on the movie Sunnyside with Joey Travolta from an April 1979 issue of Teen Beat.  And finally a really interesting At Home with John Lansing article, also from 1979.

  • April 13, 2011 - Just learned that teen magazine founder Charles Laufer has passed away at the age of 87.  Laufer Publications were great advocates of The Kids from C.A.P.E.R., featuring them in many of their publications from late 1976 well through 1977!  Thank you, Charles, for your coverage of our favorite show and all your fun work over the years!  In remembrance, why not take a moment to revisit those days by viewing our collection of some of their magazine articles?

  • March 1, 2011 - Today marks the one year anniversary of The C.A.P.E.R. Project, and what an exciting year it's been!  To celebrate, we hope to have some exciting new things coming to the site very soon!  But in the meantime, you can now download and enjoy an MP3 copy of the third episode The Ghost from C.A.P.E.R.!


  • February 1, 2011 - We have now uploaded an MP3 file of the second episode, The Kids from H.Y.D.E., which you can download to your computer or MP3 player!  And we'd like to wish Steve Bonino a very Happy Birthday today as well!

  • January 27, 2011 - We have updated John's Biography Page to include his latest writing venture, the non-fiction book Good Cop, Bad Money which he has co-authored with former NYPD Deputy Inspector Glen Morisano.  The book is now available to purchase from Barnes and Noble's website!

  • January 18, 2011 - We have just learned that Don Kirshner passed away of heart failure in Boca Raton, Florida, yesterday. With such a remarkable amount of credits to his name and years of groundbreaking contributions to the music industry, his epitaphs and memorials will no doubt shine, giving credit to the sorely underrated impresario who gave us so much memorable musical material over the years. Of course we will always remember and thank him for giving us The Kids from C.A.P.E.R, and those we've had the chance to speak with who worked on the show only had complimentary comments about their boss and mentor.  Thank you, Donnie, for all you've given us, C.A.P.E.R. being just one of them.

 


  • December 31, 2010 - To celebrate what has been an exciting year for C.A.P.E.R. fans and to help ring in the New Year (which will mark the 35th anniversary of the show!) we wanted to do something special.  So we are now offering the complete audio episode Too Much Time on Their Hands in MP3 format which you can download directly to favorite listening device!  Just click on the link above and go to the bottom of the page to find the link.  And we will upload a new audio episode every month for you to enjoy! And you can also now listen to the original uncut version of When It Hit Me from that episode as well (posted on the same page above!)  Many thanks once again to Heavy Metal Steve Wann for providing us with copies of these episodes to convert!  Happy New Year!!

  • December 20, 2010 - Steve Araujo, creator of The Bass Hang, interviewed Steve Bonino this month and the result is this fascinating video in which we get to hear Steve talk about his vocal and instrumental background!  You can watch the interview on The Bass Hang website and YouTube!
